Stroller rental FAQ

Straight answers to the questions families actually ask before booking a stroller in the Netherlands: where to collect, what it costs, when you pay, how long you can keep it, and what happens if a flight is delayed or something breaks.

Where we cannot do something — hotel delivery, other cities, 06:00 handovers — this page says so plainly rather than leaving it vague until after you have paid.

Rent from €16.95 / day · Most families rent 3–5 days · Free to reserve · cancel free up to 24h.

Pickup & drop-off: handovers happen at Schiphol Airport or Amsterdam Central Station only.

Locations and coverage

We hand over at two places only: Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Central Station. There is no hotel delivery, no apartment drop-off and no handover in other cities.

That limit is deliberate. Two fixed points mean we can tell you exactly where to stand, exactly how long it takes and who is meeting you — and be right about it. A dozen loose delivery addresses would make all three unreliable.

Using the stroller elsewhere is entirely up to you. Families regularly take ours to Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague, Keukenhof and the coast. Only the handover is fixed, not where you go.

  • Pickup: Schiphol Airport or Amsterdam Central Station
  • Drop-off: either point, no charge for switching
  • No hotel, apartment or other-city delivery
  • Handovers 09:00–20:00, seven days a week

Pricing and payment

Rental starts from €16.95 per day. Extras — rain cover, footmuff, cup holder and so on — are priced individually and shown in your total before you confirm. Nothing is added afterwards.

Payment happens only after we confirm your request, in a single step where you also agree to the rental terms. A refundable deposit is held on the same card and released once the stroller is checked in at return. A hold is not a charge, though some prepaid and virtual cards will refuse it.

Cancelling is free up to 24 hours before your pickup window.

Nothing is charged at request time

Submitting a booking request costs nothing. Money only enters the picture after a human has confirmed the stroller is available.

Booking and confirmation

You submit a request with dates, pickup point, one-hour time window, drop-off point and any extras. We check the physical fleet — including cleaning turnaround from the previous family — and confirm by email, usually the same day and always within 24 hours.

A week ahead is comfortable. In spring, summer and Dutch school holidays, two weeks is safer: the fleet is finite and each unit needs a turnaround between families.

The whole sequence is set out in how stroller rental works.

The strollers themselves

We rent two models. The Explorer is a 7.8 kg cabin-approved travel stroller with a one-hand fold, full recline and all-terrain wheels, rated to 22 kg — the right choice for toddlers and for cobbles.

The Comfort 3-in-1 suits newborns and infants, with a lie-flat carrycot configuration alongside the seat and car-seat modes. The first mode is included in the price; additional modes are charged per day.

Every unit is stripped, washed, sanitised and safety-inspected between families, with separate sign-offs for cleaning and for safety. The detail is on the hygiene and safety page.

Travel-day questions

Add your flight or train number when booking. We track it, so a delayed arrival is something we already know about rather than something you have to phone in from a baggage hall. Pickup windows are an hour long, which absorbs most delays on its own.

Your confirmation email carries the exact meeting point and the host's mobile number. In a busy concourse that one call resolves everything in under a minute.

Collecting at one point and returning at the other is normal and free. Many families collect at Schiphol on arrival and hand back at Amsterdam Central, or the reverse.

  • Add your flight or train number when booking
  • One-hour pickup windows absorb most delays
  • Host's phone number is in your confirmation email
  • Mixing pickup and drop-off points costs nothing

During the rental and returning it

If something breaks or a safety fault appears, call us. We swap the unit rather than attempt a field repair, and we do not charge for the swap. Extending mid-trip is often possible but depends on whether the stroller is promised to another family — ask early rather than on the last morning.

At return we check the stroller over with you and release the deposit hold. How fast it clears your statement is up to your bank; most cards take a few working days.

Ordinary wear is never charged. Real damage is shown to you and discussed in person — no silent deductions after you have flown home.

Still not sure?

If your situation sits at the edge of what is described here — unusual dates, a long stay, several children, a specific accessibility need — email reservations@rentastroller.nl and describe it. You will get a direct answer, including "no, that will not work for you" when that is the honest one.

Frequently asked

Where can I collect and return a stroller?

At Schiphol Airport or Amsterdam Central Station only. We do not deliver to hotels, apartments or other cities. Pickup and drop-off can be at different points at no extra cost.

How much does it cost per day?

Rental starts from €16.95 per day. The full total, including any extras, is shown before you confirm — there are no fees added afterwards.

Is my booking confirmed immediately?

No. You submit a request, we verify a cleaned and inspected stroller is genuinely free for your dates, and confirm by email — usually the same day and always within 24 hours.

When am I charged?

Only after we confirm. Payment and signing the rental terms happen together in one secure step. A refundable deposit is held on the same card and released after return.

Can I cancel?

Yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before your pickup window.

How long can I rent for?

From a single day up to several weeks. Most families rent for three to five days, and keeping the stroller for the whole trip is usually simpler and cheaper than repeat short rentals.

Can I take the stroller outside Amsterdam?

Yes. Day trips by train to Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague or the coast are completely fine — it is a travel stroller.

What age and weight does it suit?

The Explorer is rated to 22 kg, which comfortably covers toddlers to around age four. For newborns and infants, the Comfort 3-in-1 offers a lie-flat carrycot configuration.

Do you provide a rain cover?

It is an optional extra, and in Amsterdam we genuinely recommend adding it. Add it during booking so it is prepared with your stroller.

What if my flight or train is delayed?

Add your flight or train number when booking and we track it. Pickup windows are one hour long, which absorbs most delays, and the host's number is in your confirmation.

What are your operating hours?

Handovers run from 09:00 to 20:00, seven days a week. We cannot promise slots outside those hours.

Will I be charged for normal wear?

No. Scuffs, dust and canal-bridge wear are expected. Only genuine damage — a broken fold, torn fabric, a missing part — is chargeable, and we discuss it with you in person at return.
