Privacy statement

Rent-a-Stroller B.V., Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is the data controller. You can reach us at privacy@rentastroller.nl for any privacy question or request.

Booking data — your name, e-mail address, phone number, rental dates, pickup and drop-off location and time-window, flight or train number, and (for hotel delivery) the accommodation address. We need this to perform the rental contract with you and to meet you at the right place and time.

Child details — the age in months and any notes you choose to add, so we hand over a correctly configured stroller. These fields are optional.

Payment data — payments and the refundable deposit authorisation are handled by our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number; we keep only the payment status, amounts and a payment reference.

Agreement records — the version and a cryptographic hash of the Rental Agreement and Terms you accepted, the name you typed as signature, the timestamp, the IP address and browser you accepted from, and the billing address verified by our payment provider. We keep this as proof of the contract and to defend against payment disputes.

Date of birth and identity check — you give your date of birth when booking because the renter must be 18 or older. At handover our staff look at a valid government-issued identity document and record only the document type, the last four characters of its number, whether the name and date of birth matched your booking, and the time of the check. We never photograph, scan or store a copy of your identity document. Legal grounds: performance of the rental contract and our legitimate interest in preventing fraud and equipment theft.

Handover and return photos — photos of the equipment at pickup and at return, used only to document its condition and to settle any damage claim fairly.

Support messages — e-mail or WhatsApp messages you send us about your rental.

Website measurement — first-party, aggregated statistics about pages viewed and buttons clicked, so we can improve the site. Non-essential measurement runs only after you agree in the cookie banner; you can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" in the footer.

Our website chat ("Rent a Stroller Assistant") stores the messages you type, the answer given, the page you started from and any campaign or partner code in the link you arrived through. We use this only to answer your question, to hand your question over to a colleague on WhatsApp when needed, and to improve our answers. Please do not type payment details or sensitive personal information into the chat.

Chat transcripts are stored on our EU database, are readable only by our own support staff and administrators, and are deleted after 90 days. The conversation you see in your browser is kept in your tab only and disappears when you close it. If you continue on WhatsApp, WhatsApp (Meta) processes that conversation under its own terms. We do not use chat conversations for marketing without your consent.

Performance of the rental contract (booking, handover, return, deposit), our legitimate interest (fraud prevention, damage documentation, service improvement, security), your consent (non-essential measurement and marketing e-mail), and legal obligations (tax and accounting records).

Only with processors that help us deliver the service: our payment provider, our e-mail delivery provider, and our hosting and database provider (EU-hosted). They act on our instructions under a data-processing agreement. We do not sell your data and we do not load third-party advertising trackers.

Booking, agreement and invoice records: 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law. Handover and return photos: 12 months, or until a damage claim is closed. Support messages: 24 months. Aggregated website statistics: indefinitely, because they no longer identify you.

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive it in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time. Write to privacy@rentastroller.nl and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Data is stored on EU servers with encryption in transit, access limited to the staff who need it, and row-level access rules in our systems. Staff accounts use individual logins.

If you use the family guide included with your rental, it is tied to your booking rather than to your identity, and the neighbourhood-level statistics are optional and off unless you switch them on inside the guide.
