What stroller rental costs in the Netherlands

Rental starts from €16.95 per day. It is a flat daily rate rather than a set of tiers, so working out your cost is just the rate multiplied by the number of days.

Most families rent for three to five days, which is also the range where renting makes most sense: long enough that a good stroller changes the trip, short enough that the total stays comfortably below what a comparable stroller costs to buy.

The Comfort 3-in-1 works slightly differently: the first configuration you choose is included in the price, and additional modes (carrycot, car seat) are charged per day on top. You see the effect immediately as you select them.

A refundable deposit is held on your card at the payment step. The critical distinction is that a hold is not a charge: your bank reserves the amount, it does not leave your account, and it is released once we check the stroller in at return.

It exists for the small number of cases where a stroller comes back structurally damaged or does not come back at all. Ordinary wear — scuffs, dust, the marks a week of canal bridges leaves — is never deducted.

Two practical notes. Some prepaid and virtual cards refuse holds, so use a standard credit or debit card. And how quickly the hold disappears from your statement after release depends on your bank, typically a few working days.

Extras are optional and priced individually. Rather than list every price here — the booking flow shows them live — it is more useful to say which ones earn their cost in this specific city.

The rain cover is the one we would recommend to almost everyone. Dutch rain arrives sideways and often, and a soaked seat ruins the next morning as well as the current afternoon. It is inexpensive and the item families most often say they were glad they added.

A footmuff matters between roughly October and March. A cable lock is worth it if you plan long café stops. Cup holders and organisers are convenience rather than necessity — pleasant, not decisive.

Several things families expect to be charged for are simply included. Collecting at one handover point and returning at the other costs nothing — Schiphol to Amsterdam Central, or the reverse, is free.

Cancelling is free up to 24 hours before your pickup window. Swapping a faulty stroller mid-rental is free. Adjusting the harness, the walk-through at handover and the condition check at return are all part of the service.

And submitting a booking request is free and non-committal. You are asking us to check availability, not entering a contract.

A long weekend — say a Friday pickup and a Monday return — is four rental days. Add a rain cover and that is your total; there is nothing else to account for beyond the deposit hold, which comes back.

A standard week-long city break is seven days, which is where most families land. Again, rate times days plus whatever extras you chose.

Because the rate is flat, you can calculate your own total in your head before opening the booking flow. That is deliberate: pricing you cannot predict is pricing designed to surprise you.

A decent cabin-approved travel stroller costs a few hundred euros new. For one trip, renting is clearly cheaper, and you avoid storing a second stroller at home for a model you use twice a year.

Buying starts to make sense if you travel several times a year, if you want a specific model, or if you would use it at home as well as abroad. At that point the purchase amortises and the calculation flips.

The other half of the comparison is bringing the stroller you already own, which is a different question entirely — covered in rent or bring your own.

Book the days you will actually use. If you land at 22:00, starting the rental the next morning saves a day and costs you nothing in convenience.

Add only the extras that fit your season and plans. And pick the handover point that matches your route — not because one is cheaper, but because an awkward transfer costs you a taxi fare that dwarfs any saving.

For long stays, ask rather than assume. There is no advertised long-stay discount, but we would rather have a real conversation than lose you to a made-up number.
